What is Spiritual Formation?
When we talk about spiritual formation, what we’re talking about are all the ways we are shaped and formed throughout our lifetime by God. Usually, this shaping and forming takes place through spiritual practices like prayer, Bible study, worship, being with God in silence and solitude, being in community, and meeting the needs of others through service. God works in many ways, these are just some of the well worn paths that we have found helpful.
Our vision for spiritual formation is to provide meaningful opportunities for ongoing spiritual, theological, and Biblical growth so that people may more fully experience and understand who God is, more completely become who God has created them to be, and be equipped with resources from their faith that help them as they join God at work in the world, and as they face the challenges they will encounter in life. Our aim is for all of this to take place in an environment that provides opportunities for fellowship, mutual support, and closeness to Christ.
Our approach to spiritual formation focuses on helping people move into continually deepening experiences of faith and stages of spiritual growth. We seek to accomplish this by offering a variety of classes and spiritual formation groups ranging from opportunities accessible to everyone, to advanced classes for those seeking further growth. In addition to our Sunday morning Bible studies, we offer courses ranging from 100 level (beginning) to 400 level (advanced).
