We believe that each
child is loved and valued by God, and we put great
effort into helping our children know this by
showing them that we love and value them,
too. We want our church to be a place where
children experience the love of God, are nurtured
in faith in Jesus Christ, and are given every
opportunity to know God’s grace and love and become
followers of Jesus.
Bible Blast
We believe that God creates each of us to be unique. One of the ways that this is expressed is in the different ways we learn. Some learn by listening, some by seeing, some by touching, and others by doing. For that reason, we try to offer as many ways for our children to learn as possible, which is why our church uses a rotation model for children’s Sunday school that we call “Bible Blast.”
Children’s Church
Each Sunday, following children’s time in our 11 o’clock worship service, our pre-k—1st grade children go to a special location for worship and activities planned just for them. Our goal in this time is to teach our children not only about worship, but also how to worship by providing multi-sensory and developmentally appropriate worship experiences for them.
Music
Each Wednesday evening (except for summer and school holidays) our children meet from 6:15—7:15 for music. They learn to use music to worship God and to lead our congregation when they become our worship leaders on Children’s Sunday and other times throughout the year. This is also a great place for them to discover and develop gifts and learn to express their love for God in ways that will last a lifetime.
5th Grade Covenant Class
We believe in giving children opportunities for spiritual growth that fit who they are and their unique developmental stages. Fifth graders are right on the edge of a new and exciting time in their lives and in their faith, and we don’t want to miss any opportunity to assist them in their journey. So in the spring of each year we have a special class of four weekly sessions that focus on what a covenant is, the covenant God has made with us, the covenant we can make with God, and the covenant that we as a church make to love, worship, and serve together in a community of faith.
Children’s Sunday
Every spring our Children lead our entire church in worship on Children’s Sunday. From the opening prayer to the benediction, our children are involved. We even get to hear sermons from our fifth graders on this special day. This has become a rite of passage for our children, and it’s always a great day of worship for our church.
Annual Fun Events For Children
Halloween Carnival
Each October our youth sponsor a carnival for the children of our church. They set up game booths, have a costume contest, a hayride and everything else you could possibly want at a Halloween Carnival. It’s always fun for everyone who attends, and it’s a great opportunity for fellowship.
Birthday Party for Jesus
On our last Wednesday of programming each December, we have a special opportunity for our children and children’s leaders to celebrate the birth of Jesus through music, stories, games, crafts, and, of course birthday cake.
Children’s Ice Skating Trip
Just after Christmas each year, our kids get to have a day of fun ice skating. It’s amazing to watch children who have never skated, leave with a new sense of confidence. This is truly a fun day for every family involved.
Vacation Bible School
Every year in June, all of our kids gather together at the church for a week of Vacation Bible School. It's a fun-filled week in which we experience God's love through music, Bible stories, crafts, drama, recreation, and fellowship. It's a week you definitely won't want to miss!
Each summer our 3rd—6th graders participate in a wonderful children’s camp experience called PassportKids (www.passportkids.org). It’s a great combination of missions, Bible study, worship, and play. It’s a great time for our kids to meet new friends from around the country. They usually get to meet missionaries and hear firsthand about the work they are doing around the world.
